March 8th, 2019 - First Contract Ratified by 89 Percent
Congratulations to all the members at Collins Aerospace. Today, you ratified your first contract by 89 percent. Your solidarity made a difference throughout this process. This contract creates a strong foundation that we can build upon in the future.
“I was proud to watch you make a difference for yourselves and your co-workers. The process worked as it was supposed to. You came together, chose to be represented by a union and raised your standard of living – setting a foundation for the future,” said IAM District 751 President Jon Holden. “This is a perfect example for others working for aerospace vendors in Snohomish County of what can be achieved when workers have the right to bargain.”

March 2nd, 2019 - Update
Your negotiating team has worked for months pushing to get Collins Aerospace to address your issues. On Friday, March 1, we reached a tentative agreement for a first contract to present to the members, which your negotiating committee recommends you accept. We will vote this tentative agreement on Friday, March 8 at 3 p.m. at the Everett 751 Union Hall (8729 Airport Road). Below is a summary of the first contract. The full contract text will be posted on this site in plenty of time for you to have discussion with your co-workers.
February 28, 2019 - Update
We met with a federal mediator at the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Services in Seattle and were able to explain our issues. Our bargaining unit committee members had the opportunity to talk the importance of the economic issues that matter most to the membership.
We had meaningful discussions with the company and look forward to getting back to the table early tomorrow morning.
January 17th 2019 - Update
Jan. 17, 2019 - Today, in Everett, Washington Machinists Union District 751 members at UTC/Collins Aerospace decided to take strike action protesting their employer’s multiple Unfair Labor Practice activities that have negatively impacted first contract negotiations.
Currently, we have filed Unfair Labor Practice charges for unilateral changes in benefits. Today, the union filed additional Unfair Labor Practice charges related to health and welfare changes, delaying bargaining and surface bargaining/failure to bargain in good faith.
The memberships’ goal remains to achieve a fair agreement negotiated between the Union and the Company recognizing the skilled work they perform every day. Members are united in their desire to make improvements in working conditions, wages, and health and welfare benefits.
Even though the Company refused to bargain today, the Union remains willing to meet and bargain a fair agreement in good faith addressing all these important issues.
UPDATE: The Company has agreed to come back to the table tomorrow. As the priority is getting to a negotiated agreement we can recommend, our members have agreed to go back to work tomorrow to allow the bargaining process to continue. The power of solidarity is alive and well for District 751 members at UTC/Collins Aerospace.
October 18, 2018 - Negotiations Update
Brothers & Sisters,
Your Union bargaining committee has completed its second full day of bargaining with the Company. Your Union fought hard to move the bargaining process forward by completing a majority of the non-economic contract articles.
Your Union Negotiating Committee wants you to know that progress is being made. And our next round of bargaining will be held in Everett November 6, 7 and 8th. Both the Company and Union discussed bargaining dates for December and January 2019.
Thank you all for supporting your Union and sticking together. Showing your solidarity on the shop floor makes a difference, please continue showing your strength!
October 16th 2018 - Stay United!
Brothers and Sisters,
Your Bargaining Committee last met with the company face to face on July 11th & 12th . During those two days the Company presented a lot of information about their available medical plans, we also discussed proposed Seniority language and Shop Stewards contract language. Most of the conversations back and forth have been around non-economic issues.
The Union and Company are not scheduled to meet in person again until October 3rd & 4th and then again in November 6th, 7th & 8th. Rest assured the Union has expressed a number of times with the company that we need to schedule MORE negotiation dates and we will continue to push for more dates in the future. The company knows the Union is prepared and ready to meet at any time.
